Directors Note
When Helen Roberts, the owner of this house, first approached me about beginning this project, the thought was slightly overwhelming. A new company. 13 previously unwritten monologues, 13 playwrights, 14 actors and a house. But then it began. When I first started sending emails to list serves and playwrights, it became clear that it wasn't just us excited by the concept. Emails came in from all over the U.S., intrigued by the idea of the show, sending scenes and monologues, offering help.
I'm excited about this show. I'm wowed by collaboration. I'm amazed at Helen Roberts wisdom to see the stories simply waiting to be told in her house, even more amazed that she allowed us the opportunity to tell them.
So come, schmooze, wonder, delight, drink some wine, mingle with the actors…sit back, relax, allow the theatrical fourth wall to dissolve. Actually experience theatre instead of simply watch it. Become a character yourself without even knowing it. And maybe then we will have done our job as theatre artists, in the spirit of collaboration and community involvement. This house has a story to tell, I hope you are listening.
Enjoy the Show.

Note from Helen Roberts:
Daughters of the Gods. Mistresses of the Arts. The Muses.
Every home presents the opportunity for it to be dedicated to something and mine is dedicated to the Muses- source of "amusement", "musing", "musician", and "museum"...
Gaiman, and even the Clio Awards and the movie Xanadu. They are also the source of inspiration for the home you stand in. They haunt its hallways and peer through its windows, looking in at the warm faces and friendly voices inside and out. They guide, teach, entertain, and lead us in our artistic endeavors. So join us as we perform for them, and for you, the works they have inspired in a setting that is named for them. We hope they speak to you as they have spoken to us.
